Port Pilot: An Intense and Exciting Strategy Game

Port Pilot is a strategy game that features ships on the open seas. It is your task as the harbor master to guide these boats to their respective ports to unload their cargo. Be warned, Port Pilot can get stressful; however, it is a very fun parking game to play.

The graphics in Port Pilot are simple but effective. The view of the game is from an overhead perspective. The detail on the ships and the water is very impressive.

Only the mouse is used to control this game. Simply use the left mouse button to click and drag ships to their destinations. There is plenty of freedom here as you can guide ships anywhere you want.

The sound effects are fantastic. The sounds of ships and the water exhibit a busy commerce of trade that takes place in harbors. The loud warning sirens can make things very intense as you scramble to find out a quick route for ships that are close to a collision course with each other. The exploding sounds that ships make when they collide can be frightening and realistic.

Port Pilot is all about guiding ships to their destinations. As the harbor master, you must keep a lookout for ships that enter your area of responsibility and guide them safely. Ships that are off screen but are about to enter your area of responsibility are shown by flashing red arrows along the edges of the screen. Again, you can easily click and drag ships around to wherever you want them to go; however, these ships do move on their own and they never stop moving unless they are on a dock, so you cannot order them to stop in the middle of the water. There is more to this game than just moving ships to the nearest empty dock; as a matter of fact, you must pay careful attention to the colors of the docks and the ships' cargo. There are five docks, three are colored yellow and two are colored red. The ships can have yellow or red lines on them. Those lines are the ships' cargo and you must send the appropriate colored ships to the same colored harbors. If a ship has a mixture of red and yellow cargo, then you must guide them to both yellow and red docks so they can fully unload their cargo. Once the ships' cargo are all unloaded, you can guide them out of your area of responsibility by guiding them to the edges of the screen. That way, the ships with no more cargo can leave properly and the docks are empty and available for the next ships.

The most fun part in Port Pilot takes place whenever there is a threat of ships colliding. Ships that are on a collision course will trigger a siren alarm that alerts you to their location. It is your job to quickly and safely guide one or both ships to scramble to safety. Again, the ships will never stop moving while in the open seas, so you can only guide their movements and can never order them to stop. Take care to quickly empty the harbors of ships that have unloaded their cargo because collisions can take place with a ship that is about to enter a harbor while a ship is still there. The game is over when two ships collide, so do your best not to cause unnecessary explosions on the open seas!

Port Pilot is an intense strategy game that features ships on the open seas. If you think you can safely guide ships to their destinations by planning their routes ahead and avoiding collisions, then this game is for you.
